SJS Industrial, a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, that serves military and maritime customers, is seeking a full-time Assembler to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Each 8-hour shift also includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Saturday or evening shifts might happen occasionally if there is a special project with a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour work week to avoid weekend, night-time, and overtime work.
He or she will be willing to learn how to work in a warehouse environment that is fast-paced, learn to handle various types of forklifts to ensure personal safety, will be at ease with working with others within a fast-paced team environment without compromising quality, and will exhibit conscientious workmanship to ensure components meet military and maritime industry acceptance standards.
The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with others within a fast paced team environment and will exhibit conscientious and careful workmanship to ensure customer technical requirements are fulfilled.
Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the preparation and assembly of tiles with a team.
- Safely operate various small hand tools.
- Safely epoxy and assemble tiles using safe appropriate methods in preparation for being packaged in shipped.
- Must be able to remain on in the upright position and move about on their feet throughout the shift. assemblers will bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at or above shoulder level on frequent occasions.
- Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management
- Follow all written and verbal instructions
- Attend all safety and production training
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
- Learn and understand the project traveler documents fundamentals
- Perform clean-up duties throughout your shift as required
- List up to 25lbs safely.
- Complete other production-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors, the Production Manager, or the Industrial Director.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Virginia’s State Driver license.
- Forklift skills a plus.
- Must pass drug test and background check.
