JOB SUMMARY:
The Crew Leader, reporting directly to Distribution and Maintenance Superintendent, provides oversight for a small crew by prioritizing projects, assigning work tasks, using equipment, maintaining records, monitoring work quality and work schedules, insuring crew safety, training employees, and providing performance feedback.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with general maintenance on all water distribution services and mains
Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire hydrants, valves, valve boxes, water meters and meter boxes, check valves, flush hydrants and valves, water service lines, and all other appurtenances related to the water distribution system
Collaborates effectively with other workgroups throughout the organization
Ensures assigned vehicles are cleaned, stocked, and maintained with necessary supplies and equipment
Responsible for maintenance of assigned tools and equipment
Interacts with customers and responds to inquiries regarding water service, system operation, and water quality. Takes corrective actions to resolve deficiencies and provides excellent customer service
Sets up proper barricades, traffic control devices, and all work zone safety equipment
Drive pickup trucks and medium to heavy vehicles to and from job site; operates light to medium equipment, including but not limited to jackhammer, backhoe, excavators, rock saw, skid steers, front end loader, and any related equipment required to complete the assigned task.
Assists other crew members with open trench (excavations): moves dirt, debris, rock, backfilling and clean ups
Enforces safety rule. Provide safe work environment for all employees by ensuring regular safety orientation and training, enforcement of safe work practices and compliance with regulatory requirements, correcting unsafe conditions, preventing lingering unsafe or unhealthful conditions or hazards, investigating workplace accidents, and promoting and supporting efforts for timely return to work for employees.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and methods in a safe and efficient manner
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used by the organization
Ability to learn TWC operations and proper terminology to prepare for the appropriate certifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Graduate, or GED equivalent or higher
3 years of relevant work experience, 1 year of team lead / supervisory experience preferred
CDL ‘A’ License with acceptable Motor Vehicle record
Class ‘D’ Water Certificate
