The ideal candidate will have experience in both manufacturing and shipping within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient movement of pharmaceutical products from production through to delivery, while adhering to regulatory compliance and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end logistics process, from pharmaceutical manufacturing through distribution to customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels, ensuring that stocks are available for manufacturing and shipping while minimizing excess or obsolete stock
- Shipping & Receiving: Manage inbound and outbound shipments, including the coordination of freight carriers, documentation, labeling, and compliance with international regulations (e.g., temperature-controlled shipments, hazardous materials)
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all logistics activities comply with industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), FDA regulations, and international standards)
- Coordination with Manufacturing Teams: Work closely with production teams to ensure a smooth transition of products from manufacturing to packaging and shipping
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and any discrepancies.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, reduce shipping costs, and improve overall supply chain efficiency
- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, suppliers, and third-party logistics partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective delivery services
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any logistical issues, such as delays, shipping errors, or inventory discrepancies, in a timely manner
- Safety and Risk Management: Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations regarding the handling, storage, and transportation of pharmaceutical products
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or GED and equivalent experience
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain roles within the pharmaceutical industry. Prior experience with shipping pharmaceuticals or regulated products is preferred
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of logistics management, pharmaceutical regulations, and supply chain processes. Familiarity with temperature-sensitive logistics and international shipping regulations is a plus
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and transportation providers
- Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems)
- Analytical skills for troubleshooting issues and improving logistical processes
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) are a plus
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
