Position Title: Emergency Response Officer (ERO)
Team: Emergency Response Team (ERT)
This position is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect. The Emergency Response Officer (ERO) is a critical, highly flexible on-call position within SK Security's Emergency Response Team, designed to handle a variety of emergency and security operations as needed. This position offers officers a minimum of 50 hours per week, with the expectation of working up to 60 hours weekly. The starting salary for unarmed ERO officers is $50,128 per year, while armed ERO officers begin at $54,600 per year, ensuring competitive compensation and stable work hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- On-Call Availability:
EROs are required to maintain on-call availability, prepared to respond swiftly to security incidents, emergencies, or critical situations. They must remain in constant communication and be ready to mobilize as needed, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Emergency and Security Operations:
EROs may be assigned to various emergency response and security operations, including access control, patrol duties, emergency incident response, crowd management, and alarm monitoring. They must effectively apply standard operating procedures, maintain order, and safeguard assets under diverse circumstances.
- Adaptability and Flexibility:
EROs must adapt to evolving situations and function efficiently in a variety of environments. They may be required to operate across different locations, address diverse emergency challenges, and collaborate with different teams, highlighting their resourcefulness and versatility.
- Report Writing and Documentation:
EROs are responsible for thoroughly documenting incidents, maintaining accurate and detailed reports, and ensuring proper record-keeping. Clear and concise reporting is vital for effective communication and analysis within the organization.
- Customer Service:
EROs regularly interact with clients, visitors, and personnel. They are expected to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while providing assistance, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive experience for all individuals they encounter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Emergency Response/Security Experience:
Applicants must have relevant experience in emergency response, security, or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of security protocols and emergency procedures.
- Certification and Training:
Candidates should have completed basic security training and hold relevant certifications, such as security guard licensing. Additional certifications in specialized areas, including emergency response, crowd management, or conflict resolution, are advantageous.
- Dependability:
EROs must be highly reliable, punctual, and available when on-call. Their dependability is critical to the effectiveness and integrity of the Emergency Response Team.
- Strong Communication Skills:
Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential. EROs must confidently and clearly convey information to individuals from various backgrounds and levels of authority.
- Professionalism and Integrity:
EROs are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity, adhere to the organization's code of conduct, and respect confidentiality while ensuring a safe and secure environment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands and frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk, and hear (communicate verbally in person and via phone). The employee must be able to read computer screens, correspondence, and reports in English.
The employee must constantly walk, stand, and reach with both hands and arms, and must be able to drive a vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and may be required to climb stairs intermittently at client sites.
The role involves constant use of vision to observe, read, interact with the public and co-workers, and view security monitors, including hand/eye coordination.
The employee must be able to work in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions (e.g., cold, rain, heat), and maintain focus and multitask in a busy setting. Managing stressful situations calmly and professionally, as well as effectively overseeing employees with diverse personalities, is essential.
