Assists Transfer Station Technicians by directing traffic and unloading customer vehicles, provides direct assistance to customers at Transfer Station. Removes recyclable materials from solid waste delivered to Transfer Station. Maintains Transfer Station grounds and provides litter control activities. Acts as backup Transfer Station equipment operator.Salary upon hire is Step 1 ($22.54/hour). The On-Call Transfer Station Laborer is Range 9 of the General Salary Schedule (Non-Union).
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Directs Transfer Station traffic to appropriate areas for off-loading of solid waste materials. Directs and assists public in off-loading of solid waste materials, assists public in placing recyclable materials in proper recycling containers. Visually screens solid waste materials for acceptability and directs the removal of unacceptable wastes. Conducts on-going grounds maintenance. Fuels and assists with lubing equipment. Conduct routine litter patrol of Transfer Station grounds. Operates Transfer Station equipment as needed (may include forklift, street sweeper, front-end loader, and trucks). Share with other Facility employees the responsibility of maintaining the Transfer Station in a clean and orderly manner. Hand out educational material related to solid waste and recycling to the public and answer questions within scope of authority. Assist with providing breaks for Transfer Station Technicians and Scale House Attendants, including cash handling. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: May be tasked with performing related duties. Related duties as required are duties that may not be specifically listed in the position description, but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.
