Job Summary
This position is responsible for monitoring, communicating with medical staff members and collection on all expirable credentials. Assisting with the initial and reappointment credentialing process for the Medical Staff of Skagit Regional Health (SRH). Medical Staff meeting preparation and minutes as assigned and other activities relative to Medical Staff/Medical Staff Services office. The Medical Staff of SRH is made up of over 700 healthcare providers practicing at Skagit Valley Hospital (SVH), a 148 bed acute care hospital; Cascade Valley Hospital (CVH), a 47 bed acute care hospital; 23 Skagit Regional Clinics (SRC) that report as departments to SVH; 2 Wound care centers; Arlington Ambulatory Surgery Center; Mount Vernon Surgery Center; and SRH Regional Cancer Care Center. This position develops a positive working relationship members inside and outside the organization to communicate information regarding the medical staff members as requested. Maintains a high degree of accuracy and data integrity, is able to appropriately handle unexpected issues efficiently and effectively, and represents the organization in a professional manner. This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Medical Staff Services.
Essential Functions
Updates data for privileges, reappointment, expirables, and OPPE. Writes and runs reports to extract data from data base for department, internal SRH, and external request. Runs monthly reports for medical staff appointment/privileges, state licensure, DEA certification, malpractice coverage, NRP, ACLS, PALS cards, and Board Certification expiration dates. Notifies providers of upcoming renewal dates. Notifies MSSO director of expiring/expired credentials that have not been renewed as required by medical staff appointment/privileges. Assists with collecting proof of annual medical staff flu vaccinations from the medical staff. Assists with notifying medical staff of required SRH Computer Based Learning (CBLs) modules. Performs invoicing and collection of Medical Staff annual dues. Assists Medical Staff On-Call Schedule, obtaining and posting monthly online. Loads monthly call schedules for non-employee medical staff into SRH online intranet call system (AMION). Provides back up for daily call schedule change requests. Backs up medical staff departmental and section meetings by organizing, staffing, taking minutes organizing minutes. Maintains and processes correspondence; which includes research, appropriate response, data entering, sorting, and filing. Supports medical staff leadership as needed to promote optimal use of the provider’s time. Complies with all organization policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Education
Associates degree in a healthcare field preferred. Three years’ experience with medical staff and medical staff services may be acceptable in place of degree.
Experience/Training
License/Certifications
Preferred - Certified Professional Credentials Specialist (CPCS) certification and/or Certified Professional Medical Staff Manger (CPMSM) certification within two years of employment, and must maintain certification.
Other Skills
Must possess and exercise an awareness of the highly sensitive nature of the credentials and privileging process for health care providers including physicians, clinical support staff, and ancillary staff. Must possess a detailed knowledge of medical staff accreditation standards. Have strong written and verbal communication skills. Have knowledge of medical terminology. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software including Excel. Must possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to multi task, work independently and prioritize workload in a dynamic environment with shifting and competing priorities interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and apply critical thinking skills to perform effectively.
