Job Summary
The Patient Support Supervisor is responsible for the daily management and operations of assigned department(s) and assigned direct reports to ensure optimal efficiency and profitability as well as patient, provider and employee satisfaction. The Patient Support Supervisor will partner effectively with the Practice Manager, staff and physicians to implement programs to attain the highest levels of patient focused care, provide leadership and direction within all aspects of department activities to ensure accomplishment of organizational objectives.
Essential Functions
• Demonstrates core leadership competencies (e.g., building a successful team, building organizational talent, building partnerships, coaching and developing others, using compelling communication, driving execution, leading change, leading through vision and values, selecting talent, focusing on the customer, financial acumen). • Prepares employee schedules and assigns work to staff; evaluates daily workload, workflow, and adjusts staff assignments accordingly • Prioritizes opportunities to develop employees at all levels which encourages transparency, collaboration, and an atmosphere where all employees feel respected and valued. • Resource for continuous improvement • Understands and utilizes financial scorecard measures including: key performance metrics, productivity benchmarks, appropriate staffing, inventory control Recruits, develops, and motivates staff to ensure a highly-engaged and values-focused department. • Supports use of standardized Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies to achieve high value performance in all functional areas within scope of position. • Ensures accurate and compliant coding practices, training staff and providers to do the same, as applicable. • Understands department processes, policies, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, organization policy, and other regulatory agencies. • Complies with Skagit Regional Health Policies and Procedures. • Ensure compliance with all SRH policies and procedures, universal attributes and Service Standards. • Ensure appropriate assessment and process resolution of compliance and regulatory issues. • Collaborates with other Skagit Regional Health leaders including HR, Risk, Plant Operations, Information Systems, etc. to coordinate problem solving, training, personnel management and systems development. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Associates Degree required.
Experience/Training
Two years of related experience in healthcare setting. 1 year or greater of supervisory experience in an ambulatory setting strongly preferred.
License/Certifications
None required.
Other Skills
Ability to create and monitor metrics. Ability to evaluate, coach and discipline staff. Ability to interpret performance scores (e.g. Press Ganey) and create/implement action plans. Ability to create meeting agendas and lead meetings. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office. Travel between sites may be required.
