Job Summary
The Senior Application Analyst serves as a mentor to their application teams. They have advanced analytical expertise, with comprehensive knowledge of all components of their application(s), including: database architecture, user interface design, background processes, logic and rules constructs, reporting, and other features. In demonstrating these capabilities and the integration of their applications with others, they can expand their awareness of the functions and design of other applications. Senior analysts have robust and durable relationships with their business partners and stakeholders, and work with them to instrument solutions that are broader and more complex in scope. Though not line managers, their success is driven by their ability to provide multi-layered knowledge of wider systems and applications. They are influencers, enabling them to lead small projects and to collaborate with others within IS and the organization. In addition to being expert on their assigned applications, Senior Analysts have broader familiarity with other applications and technologies they can use to develop solutions or lead inter-application team endeavors. Senior analysts must understand data and workflow integration, knowing how key functions of applications are interconnected. They serve as mentors to analysts, through coaching, demonstration and tutoring. They add value to their assigned duties, by enhancing application functions, advancing the skills of their teams and provide better service and products for their stakeholders.
Essential Functions
Application Design, Development and Validation: 1) Demonstrate application/business analysis skills by understanding all relevant data, processes or information relative to a problem/design, identify the relationships between these points and evaluate the impacts a design/change imparts on users, other applications, etc. 2) Document current and proposed data flows within your application(s) as well as with other systems or interfaces. 3) Exhibit the ability to: define the plan of work, discover current data elements and possibilities, assess those elements and possibilities, and create a written specifications/requirements. 4) Collaborate/work with stakeholders and customers to identify and document key business requirements for application. 5) Develop application functionality to address user requirements and that integrates well with other components/functions of the application. 6) Gain an understanding of all relevant data and event interfaces between assigned applications and other applications it interacts with regularly. Quality Assurance/Testing: 1) Understands and coordinates with other individuals and analysts for testing functions including unit testing, integration testing and interface testing. 2) Can independently build and execute a test plan. Communication and Documentation: 1) Capably share and articulate your application design and requirements findings with your peers, stakeholders/customers and managers. 2) Effectively tailors communication for the audience; articulates technical issues in a clear and concise manner. 3) Produces written documentation that records proposed design and changes for peers and customers. 4) Regularly initiates and communicates issues and concerns to stakeholders, peers and managers. 5) Utilize established document structures and tools to create requirements documents, tip sheets and other materials. Technology Foundation: 1) Addresses hardware needs and engages appropriate teams to troubleshoot hardware peripherals. 2) Follows established change management, maintenance and upgrade processes. 3) Understand planned and unplanned downtime procedures. 4) Requests vendor changes and support of application per policies. Application Support and Maintenance 1) Participate in end user downtime activities, both preparatory and actual downtime events, developing tools and support structures to enable users to utilize manual processes and then migrate back to the application when online. 2) Monitor all issue and service request tickets, including meeting service level agreements for communication and closure via service level agreements; this includes a regular review and prioritization of issues weekly or via another identified time standard. 3) Provide after hours and weekend on call support services as required for assigned application(s). 4) Provide mechanisms for user reporting of application and system deficiencies as well as system improvements. 5) Assure application changes impacting user workflows are communicated and understood by recipients. 6) Provide customer service by exhibiting empathy, patience, respect and a positive attitude; actively listen to customer concerns and address them honestly and objectively. Vendor Management: 1) Communicate with application vendor on issues requiring their support or intervention Application Maintenance: 1) Be knowledgeable of all system environments associated with application, their purpose and when they are updated/changed. 3. Performance Improvement and Project Management 1) Able to work with stakeholders and other IS staff to translate business needs into technical/application specifications and configuration. 1) Utilize tools and processes to identify, report and resolve issues and risks 2) Participate in user oversight committees/workgroups as requested, completing any assigned tasks. 3) Report progress on your assigned tasks 4. Other Duties: 1) Participate in on call rotations on nights and weekends. 2) Other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management or a clinical profession (nursing, laboratory science, pharmacy, etc.) preferred.
Experience/Training
Serving in an analyst or computer system support (five years) preferred. Experience in and knowledge of health system operations (five years) preferred.
License/Certifications
a. Must maintain Epic certification, required within ninety (90) days of completing training for certification testing, employees will be given three chances to pass each certification test. Application coordinators will gain in-depth knowledge of software by attending training at Epic and completing application certification projects and tests. b. Epic team resources should possess proficiencies in other applications, particularly those relevant to their function (preferred)

Produce effective documentation and materials, including: cross-application status reporting, professional quality documents to share with customers and escalation of issues to leadership. b. Communicate effectively with high level stakeholders by providing a concise and balanced perspective of the opportunities and risks. Senior analysts should organize and plan how they and their team members divide their time between specific activities: This includes: a. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to quickly reposition this work without delays.
