Skamania School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with administration and staff to design and deliver a vibrant and engaging music program that inspires a deep love for music in our students. This role includes teaching music appreciation, harmony, and music exploration to TK-8th grade, while crafting a well-rounded curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our learners. Additionally, the Music Teacher will lead and teach band class for students in grades 5 through 8, fostering both individual and group musical growth.
Salary: The current salary range is $31,320-$59,076 annually based on education and experience.

Essential Functions:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification in music.
- Collaborate with administration and staff to develop and implement the instructional program.
- Plan a balanced music program and organize daily class time to ensure preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Utilize a repertoire of diverse music literature, including traditional and contemporary pieces, that is appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
- Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior to provide an orderly and productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances.
- Plan, rehearse, and direct students in music programs for the school and community.
- Develop an appreciate of the art of music in each student.
- Discover and nurture the musical talents of students, allowing for extended music opportunities.
- Attend staff, department, and district meetings as requested.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to student progress and program activities.
- Develop and manage a budget consistent with program needs.
- Promote a sense of consideration for others and responsibility in contributing to the benefit of the school community.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification in music.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching music.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students in their musical pursuits.
Working Conditions/Employment Requirements
Employment Requirements:
- Clearance of Washington State Patrol and FBI Criminal History Background Check.
