General Responsibilities
Reporting to the District Superintendent. The Office Assistant at Skamania School is a pivotal role that ensures the smooth operation of the school office, providing essential clerical support, managing sensitive documents, and acting as a liaison between students, parents, and the superintendent/principal. This position requires confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and adherence to district policies and procedures. The Office Assistant must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and aligned with the district's goals
Terms of Employment:
The position requires a total of 195 contract days, spanning from August through June, starting in May 2025. Time: 7:45 am - 3:45 pm w/ 30 minute unpaid lunch
Salary: $23.06-$26.73 per hour.
Location: This position will be located in Skamania, Washington.

Communication and Relationship Building:
- Develop positive working relationships with staff, students, parents, directors, community members, ESD 112 personnel, and local, regional, and state officials.
- Communicate effectively with the superintendent, students, families, and colleagues.
- Bring updates and communication items to biweekly staff meetings, recordings, and distributing action items promptly.
- Organize and maintain a clean orderly office.
- Establish and maintain routine office procedures such as managing personnel/student files, annual reporting, and enrollment.
- Create and maintain a filing system for server and paper documents.
- Manage student health issues, including first aid, medication distribution, and health records maintenance.
- Type and distribute school correspondence, including letters, memos, bulletins, and promotional materials.
- Maintain and communicate school calendar schedules.
- Answers phones professionally, redirect calls, take messages, and place calls.
- Great guests warmly and professionally, ensuring they sign in and monitoring access to the school.
- Supervise and support students in the office as directed by school administration and policies.
- Interact regularly with parents, students, and staff.
- Manage mail. including distribution and preparing school mailings.
- Maintain accurate daily meal count records.
- Responsible for grant management oversight and support.
- Administer first aid and short-term care to students.
- Manage student medications and health records.
- Schedule vision and hearing screenings and maintain immunization records.
- Support the goal of high average daily attendance by managing attendance communication and incentives.
- Maintain accurate student attendance records in Skyward.
- Make calls to parents of absent students.
- Prepare weekly and monthly attendance reports.
- Maintain student health and discipline records.
- Technology Management:
- Update the website and keep up to date with e-rate.
- Support the classroom technology needs and manage the security program.
- Manage state testing requirements.
- Attend required training as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent/principal.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an office role.
- Proficiency with office software, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain.
- Associate degree or higher.
- Office experience in an educational setting.
