Truss Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Truss Technician to join our team at a wood truss manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading plans, picking lumber, cutting, assembling wooden trusses, and operating equipment to support production processes. This role requires a proactive individual with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety standards and maintaining a clean workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret plans and shop drawings to select appropriate lumber grades, lengths, and materials.
- Operate all-terrain forklifts to move materials and products within the facility.
- Lay out truss supplies and materials on carts or floor for assembly.
- Assemble wooden trusses under the direction of line leaders, ensuring high-quality results.
- Select, sort, and place materials according to predetermined sequences or "pick" lists provided by truss designers.
- Cut lumber and stock plates for component setup using basic hand tools and equipment.
- Monitor the production workflow process, providing assistance to other areas as needed.
- Load, band, and store finished materials on carts or pallets, either indoors or outdoors.
- Comply with established safety rules and regulations, actively maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Detect and communicate unsafe conditions, rapidly solving problems as they arise.
- Participate in assigned trainings to maintain skill levels and ensure compliance with company standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Operate various equipment necessary for the assembly process.
- Maintain inventory accuracy as required by management.
- Provide excellent customer service and contribute positively to the work environment.
- Perform tasks such as receiving incoming materials, emptying trash receptacles, and keeping bays and staging areas organized.
- Ensure error-free and damage-free production results through careful attention to the work environment.
- Follow attendance policies by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and pick lists.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing workflows.
- Up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Awareness of safety protocols and the ability to promote a safe work environment.

Working Conditions:

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
