Foam Design Engineer

Job Description

SKB Cases is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and detail-oriented person to design and fabricate custom foam inserts for a variety of applications within our protective hard cases. As an in-house Foam Design Engineer, you will be expected to work closely with sales and production teams to develop foam solutions from concept to design, prototyping, and final implementation.

This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday: 8am – 5pm) located at company headquarters in Orange, California.

Responsibilities Include

• Operating foam fabrication equipment (saws, waterjet cutter, glue equipment, etc.) to produce prototypes
• Interfacing with partners and foam fabrication vendors to source materials and technologies
• Interfacing with in-house production planners, production managers, and quality assurance personnel
• Cataloging and maintaining all current and future foam designs
• Maintaining a production schedule for prototypes and short production runs
• Working directly with sales teams to
• Establish project scope and provide actionable feedback
• Develop designs and prototypes
• Analyze or estimate costs
• Managing a team of two (2) foam fabricators, including time off requests, sick days, training & development
  
  

Job Requirements

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Management experience; experience working with small teams
• Proficiency with
• AutoCAD
• SolidWorks
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Strong ability to work both independently within role (with minimal supervision) and collaboratively with a team
• Excellent multitasking and analytical skills
• Education/experience in engineering and drafting in the packaging or relevant field preferred
