We are seeking a Senior Design & Integration Engineer to lead the integration, optimization, and continuous improvement of advanced automation systems at one of the biggest footwear brands in the world. Core Responsibilities
System Design & Integration
- Architect material handling solutions by converting business requirements into mechanical system designs and integrated software workflows (WMS/WES/WCS).
- Translate operational data into actionable design specifications, including process rates, throughput requirements, and equipment selection.
- Define simulation requirements, create Description of Operations, and author system architecture documentation to support detailed design and integration efforts.
- Lead cross-functional integration of automation hardware and software systems, ensuring seamless performance across WMS, WES, WCS, and MHE.
- Troubleshoot Material Handling Systems as needed, leveraging knowledge of these and upstream systems such as the WMS.
- Oversee project engineering efforts from design through commissioning, including vendor coordination, technical sign-offs, and post-launch support.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to evaluate new technologies and ensure alignment with strategic automation roadmaps.
- Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders to capture enhancement requests and define new system requirements, ensuring alignment with operational goals and technical capabilities.
- Develop clear business cases and detailed functional requirements for system enhancements, supporting prioritization and execution by internal and external development teams.
- Review vendor scopes of work, technical proposals, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with system standards and operational needs.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials (including video content).
- Provide coaching and mentorship to operations teams on the effective use of system tools (e.g., Pyramid Director WCS), reinforcing best practices and promoting operational ownership.
- Support change management initiatives tied to system upgrades, new features, and process standardization.
- Collaborate with users to define and implement dashboards that visualize key performance metrics, operational trends, and system health indicators.
- Drive adoption of data tools that empower end-users to self-serve insights and make informed decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering (or a related technical discipline) required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business a plus.
- 10 years of experience in MHE design, automation systems, or industrial engineering within distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments.
- 2 years as a lead designer or technical integrator for large-scale MHE systems.
- Strong understanding of warehouse software ecosystems, including WMS (e.g. Manhattan), WES, WCS (e.g. Pyramid), and PLC-based control systems.
- Proficiency in simulation tools, AutoCAD, and data analysis platforms (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI).
- Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience influencing operations, IT, and executive stakeholders.
- Proven ability to drive multiple complex projects from concept through execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Up to 25% travel is expected to support site launches, integration efforts, system testing, and team training across multiple distribution centers.
- $150,000 - $180,000/year.
