Summary:

Sets up and operates machinery to grind and hone internal and external surfaces of bearing components to specification.

Essential Functions:

• Reviews set-up and tooling sheet to determine rings and grinding specifications.
• Pushes/pulls tub containing rings on wheeled rack to load area.
  • Returns ticket located on filled ring tub to schedule board.
  • Reads ticket located on tub to confirm line location.
• Monitors ring supply and maintains supply as per grinding line requirements.
• Reviews lot ticket to determine run specifications.
• Sets up machines for grinding and honing operation as required.
  • Removes and replaces grinding wheel using hand tools.
  • Dresses wheel using preset dressing device.
  • Uses hand tools to complete set-up and make adjustments on grinding and honing machines during operation.
• Adjusts control panel as per grinding and honing specifications.
• Completes initial run of grinding and honing operations, then gauges work pieces to assure conformance to specifications.
  • Makes adjustments to grinding and honing machines as required at controls or adjusts machines internally.
• Inspects rings to ensure quality control.
  • Completes visual inspection and mechanical inspection utilizing gauges.
  • Confirms inspection results.
• Inputs data and bar codes scrap for records.
• Maintains grinding and honing machines.
  • Applies grease and lubricating oils as required.
  • Notifies maintenance regarding the need for machine repairs or service beyond production adjustments.
• Maintains cleanliness of machines and surrounding work area.
  • Sweeps and mops floor to eliminate oil spills.
  • Operates automatic floor scrubber.
• Ensures grind wheels, hone stones and related parts to complete operation are available.
• Trains others in Grind and Hone area as needed
• Performs other duties outside of primary job description as deemed necessary by manager.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
