Visiting Assistant Professor, Education Studies The Education Studies Department of Skidmore College, a selective liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York, invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor beginning September 2025. This is a 9-month position. Faculty in the Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State, grades 1-6. In addition, the Department’s on-campus lab school, the Early Childhood Center, provides a resource for teaching and research. The teaching load for this position is 5 courses (18 credits) for the academic year. Candidates with expertise in elementary education, including expertise in one or more of the following areas : disability studies in education, curriculum and instruction, elementary science and social studies methods, are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications : a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the field of Education is preferred; however, ABD candidates will be considered. Preferred Qualifications : a strong commitment to social justice, teaching experience at the college and / or elementary school level, a robust commitment to undergraduate teacher education within a liberal arts context, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Skidmore is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and / or service. Pay Rate : $66,000-$70,000 Pay Ranges : The hiring rate for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria : Prior relevant work or industry experience. Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position. Academic discipline (faculty pay ranges reflect 9-month annual salary). Unique applicable skills. All bargaining unit faculty members shall be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union, Local 200United.
