Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions in QuickBooks.
- Review, verify, and process invoices and payments in a timely manner using QuickBooks.
- Reconcile AR and AP balances in QuickBooks to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Monitor customer accounts for payment status, follow up on overdue invoices, and resolve any billing issues.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in QuickBooks, including balance sheet and income statement preparation.
- Support inventory management and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting for marine products, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation in QuickBooks.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes in QuickBooks, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and accurate.
- Assist in preparing and analyzing budgets and forecasts, providing insights on financial performance and variances.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations and maintain proper accounting records in accordance with GAAP within QuickBooks.
- Oversee and assist with cash management, including bank reconciliations, daily cash flow monitoring, and cash disbursements, utilizing QuickBooks.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations using QuickBooks.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and assisting in audit preparations.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and improve efficiency.
- Review vendor and customer contracts to ensure accurate billing and payments in QuickBooks.
- Process credit card transactions and ensure proper accounting of company credit card expenditures in QuickBooks.
- Ensure timely and accurate employee payroll processing and related journal entries in QuickBooks.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis for management as needed.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks for daily accounting tasks, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Experience with financial reporting and general ledger management in QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in the marine or boat retail industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of inventory management and COGS accounting.
