What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser Operators FIRST and SECOND Shift position at Skilcraft?
Key Responsibilities
• Program and operate computerized laser cutting and punching equipment to produce parts per customer requirements
• Inspect parts per blueprints to ensure adherence to customer requirements and detect any errors or machine malfunctions
• Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and tape measures to maintain tight tolerances
• Perform minor maintenance and adjustments to keep CNC machines running smoothly
• Participate in daily production meetings as required
• Suggest and implement cost-saving process improvements
• Interact with the Quality Department to uphold high standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Assist with ordering supplies for your department
• Quickly respond to machine breakdowns and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Foster a spirit of cooperation and teamwork within your work group and across the company
• Report any safety or policy violations to the Plant Manager
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of experience programming and operating computerized equipment to produce quality parts per customer specifications Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments to produce parts within tight tolerances
• Capable of converting between standard and metric measurements
• Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
• High School graduate or GED
Preferred Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of experience programming and operating computerized equipment to produce quality parts per customer specifications Ability to read and interpret
• Vocational or trade school certification in a relevant field
• Experience operating TRUMPF machines

Physical Requirements
• Able to stand for 2 to 3 hours continuously and occasionally sit, walk, climb, bend, and stoop
• Capable of repeatedly reaching and grasping cut parts throughout the day
• Regularly lifts 45 lbs minimum, up to 60 lbs independently, and up to 120 lbs with assistance
• Possesses close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
• Able to communicate verbally
Work Environment
• Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, heat, cold, solvents, and electrical energy
• Works around machinery with moving parts and mobile vehicles
• Collaborates closely with team members
• Some overtime may be required based on business needs
