What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist position at Skilcraft?

CNC Machinist

Hire type: Full-Time

Shift: 1st Shift

Job Duties:

Program multiple different geometrically complex parts at various machining centers.
Analyze drawings, solid models, and/or sketches to determine type and sequence of machine operations.
Determine proper tooling selection for each part considering speeds, feeds, machine limitations.
Work closely with junior machinists to set expectations and further develop their skills at a high level.
Work closely with the CMM inspection lab; have an in-depth knowledge of metrology and GD&T.

Required Skills:

Effectively communicate with interdisciplinary departments of the company daily.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints accurately.
Understanding of basic arithmetic and trigonometry.
High level of organization and self-discipline.
Ability to manually measure parts on and off a machining center.

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in a high mix, low volume machine shop focused on the aerospace and defense industries.
Familiar with working in a low volume, high mix manufacturing facility.
