Description: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location and Client Initials: Morganton Day Program /HGR
Pay rate: $16/h 2 hours a day for driving or van monitor; $20/h 6 hours a day for billable 1:1 Day Support Services
Schedule: Normally Mon-Fri either 7am-3pm or 9am-5pm depending on van schedule
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) has job various responsibilities related to the overall support of the individual receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. The individuals served have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury with possible secondary substance abuse and/or behavioral health diagnoses. The DSP for a day program facility works either in the Day Program Facility or the community as scheduled providing 1:1 or group assistance according to the individual needs and plan of care. Examples of job responsibilities include (but are not limited to educational and vocational goals with incidental personal care, meal prep and assistance with taking medications. The DSP affords opportunities for communication, recreation and leisure, and any other areas as identified in the plan as preferences and/or needs.

Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited education program
- Prompt and regular attendance
- Work during inclement weather and on holidays may be necessary and required
- Valid Driver’s license in NC with three years of driving experience minimum
- Acceptable criminal background and MVR check
- Coursework in CPR/First Aid, on line education programs and a state approved behavior intervention program
- Computer skills to be able to complete education modules, use of electronic health record and email
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Requires occasional stooping, bending and kneeling
- This position requires the employee to be on his/her feet most of the shift
- Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and therapeutic relationships with those served
- Must pass random drug screenings throughout employment
