Job Summary :
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of floors and surfaces within the nursing home. This includes stripping, waxing, buffing, and maintaining all floor types to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities :
Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, buff, and refinish floors using specialized equipment and chemicals.
Operate and maintain floor care machines, including buffers, burnishers, extractors, and auto-scrubbers.
Ensure all floor surfaces are clean and free of hazards such as spills, debris, and excessive wear.
Follow all safety guidelines regarding chemical use, equipment operation, and infection control protocols.
Remove and replace furniture or equipment as needed to complete floor care tasks.
Assist in carpet cleaning, including spot cleaning and deep extraction.
Dispose of waste and maintain equipment storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Monitor and report maintenance needs, including damaged flooring, equipment malfunctions, or supply shortages.
Comply with all nursing home policies and regulatory requirements related to environmental services.
Assist housekeeping staff with general cleaning duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience as a Floor Technician, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
Knowledge of floor care equipment, techniques, and chemical safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Work Environment :
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and solutions.
Standing and moving for long periods in a healthcare setting.
Interacting with residents, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
