We are currently seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Nurse to join our team.
Job Description: As the Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff by preventing the spread of infections, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols, and providing ongoing education and training for our nursing staff. You will work closely with the leadership team to support staff development and enhance the quality of care provided at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infection Prevention:
- Develop, implement, and oversee infection prevention and control policies and procedures in line with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct surveillance of infections and outbreaks, documenting and reporting findings in accordance with facility protocols.
- Provide recommendations and guidance to staff to prevent and control infections within the facility.
- Conduct regular audits of infection control practices and ensure compliance with all infection prevention measures.
- Staff Development:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate training programs for nursing and support staff on infection control, safety protocols, and other healthcare-related practices.
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation, in-service training, and continuing education to ensure staff are up to date on clinical best practices and regulatory standards.
- Assess staff competencies and provide support for skill development and clinical education.
- Collaboration and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the facility leadership team to ensure quality care and a culture of safety.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in infection control and staff education.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory surveys, audits, and inspections related to infection control and staff development.
Qualifications:
- LPN licensure in CT.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain certification within a designated period.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support staff effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
