Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal fabrication processes and be proficient in reading schematics and blueprints. This role involves working with various materials and utilizing power tools to fabricate metal components according to specifications. The Metal Fabricator will contribute to the production of high-quality products while ensuring safety and efficiency in the workplace.
Duties
- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines.
- Double-checking design specifications before commencing cutting work.
- Fabricating and constructing metal components.
- Grinding and finishing completed products.
- Performing quality checks on completed products & completing Job Reports.
- Conforming with state and company safety regulations.
- Working towards AWS certification and advanced welding experience.
- Building an advanced knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools setup, & programming. Including constructing templates as needed.
- Advanced mathematical and engineering skills.
- Works alongside shop fabrication employees to construct Prefabrication projects as directed by the shop foreman.
- Develops an understanding of the capabilities & Safe use of each piece of equipment in the shop.
- Builds an understanding of metal fabrication design software and best practices.
- Communicate with Quality to ensure Inspections and Phase Gates are met as scheduled.
- Communicate with Project Management & Procurement to ensure the product is ordered timely & within budget.
- Assists sales in design packages including layout plans and detail drawings.
- Occasionally called in to perform onsite project audits to build a scope that can be accurately priced or makes sales visits alongside sales to offer technical field expertise.
Experience
- D1.1 Structural Welding Certified or minimum 5 years working structural steel
- Proven experience in metal fabrication or a related field is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Familiarity with various fabrication techniques, including welding, soldering, and assembly processes.
- Experience operating heavy machinery and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- LEAN background is a plus.
