What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Diesel Truck Mechanic (Bradenton, FL) position at Skilled Trades Services?
Objective The primary duties of a Senior heavy equipment/truck mechanic includ diagnostic testing on diesel/gas vehicles and to diagnose and repair/replace engines, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system. Must have the ability to perform basic, intermediate and advanced vehicle maintenance and repairs
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with weekends and travel expected.
Qualifications
- · Engine tune-up
- · Test hydraulics, valves and motors
- · Replace engines, steering, transmissions and braking systems
- · Use diagnostic tools
- · Complete troubleshooting and repairs needed
- · Oil, tires and filters changes
- Work on mechanical and electrical system and replace parts
- Maintenance, inspections and service on trucks.
- ·Test Drive Trucks
- ·Perform quality inspections prior to returning vehicles to the crew
- Experience as an automotive/diesel
- Knowledge of shop equipment
- ·Strong communication skills
- ·Must be able to travel as needed
- Work may be required on weekends
- Must be 21 years of age
- CDL A is a plus but not a requirement
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required Education and Experience
- · Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel equipment/trucks
- · ASE Diesel Certification advantageous
- Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering
- · Excellent mechanical aptitude
