Job Description:
We are looking for a dependable and experienced Commercial Electrician in the Chantilly, VA area to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will be skilled in reading blueprints, running conduit, installing wiring, and troubleshooting electrical issues in a commercial setting.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical Installation: Install, inspect, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and building controls, in commercial facilities.
- Conduit Work: Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit (EMT, PVC, and rigid) as required by project blueprints and specifications.
- Wiring and Equipment Installation: Pull wire, make electrical connections, and install electrical devices such as switches, outlets, and panels.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in commercial systems, including lighting, breakers, and control systems.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure correct installation and adherence to code requirements.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, OSHA safety regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and compliant work practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues or repairs made.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a certified apprenticeship or technical school program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial electrician, with a strong background in conduit work, wiring, and troubleshooting in commercial buildings.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid electrician’s license or journeyman certification required.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in running and bending conduit (EMT, PVC, rigid) and pulling wire.
- Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Familiar with commercial lighting, power, and control systems.
- Proficient in using electrical tools and testing equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, and conduit benders.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders or scaffolding, and perform physically demanding tasks in various commercial environments.
- Other Requirements: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
