Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator for an o n going project in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, and other industrial projects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will ensure that all machinery is operated safely and efficiently while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and cranes in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Follow project plans and instructions from supervisors to complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Ensure a safe work environment by complying with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of heavy materials and equipment as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, including construction workers, foremen, and site supervisors, to complete projects.
- Maintain detailed logs of work performed, equipment usage, and any maintenance or repair activities.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed in DC
- OSHA10
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator.
- Valid heavy equipment operator certification or license (if required by state/province regulations).
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining various types of heavy machinery.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily takes place outdoors, in various weather conditions.
