What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Steel Fitter position at Skillforce?
We are currently hiring for Structural Steel Fitters in Richmond, VA. As a Structural Steel Fitter you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling structural steel components according to blueprints and specifications. Structural Steel Fitter Responsibilities:
- Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts according to specifications
- Operate overhead cranes and use cutting and heating torches safely and effectively.
- Perform heat corrections and check camber and sweep tolerances of beams and steel shapes, making adjustments as required
- Set up jigs or assemblies as needed to facilitate the fitting process
- Identify and correct potential hazards in the work environment
- Interpret documents and blueprints
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
Structural Steel Fitter Qualifications:
- 1 years experience as a structural steel fitter
- Your own reliable transportation
- Able to successfully pass tack weld tests for FACW (Flux Core) welding
- Advanced layout and mathematical skills
- Thorough understanding of pre-heat functions
- Proficient in setting up and operating a track torch
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Full-time
