POSITION SUMMARY
Skillpoint Alliance is seeking an experienced electrician to serve as an instructor for our Summer Killeen Pre-Apprentice Electrical class. Classes meet daily from 8 PM to 3 PM for the following cohorts:
- Cohort 1: June 2nd – June 30th
- Cohort 2: July 7th – July 31st
This is a great opportunity for electricians looking to mentor the next generation of electrical workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction based on the provided curriculum
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom and lab environment
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to students
- Prepare and manage materials and equipment for class sessions
- Follow established lesson plans and modify them to meet class needs
- Confidence in facilitating hands-on labs, like:
- Basics of wiring devices
- Basics of hand bending in accordance with Greenlee standards
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure student success
- Maintain confidentiality of participant information
- Stay Informed about industry trends and code changes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of teaching practical construction and electrical skills in a classroom and lab setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible schedule and ability to respond to short-notice teaching needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Journey-level electrician license highly preferred
- Master Electrician license
- Prior teaching or training experience (instructor or on-the-job mentoring)
- OSHA certification
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Suite)
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment
- Work environment includes classroom and hands-on lab space
- Moderate computer work for instructional preparation and delivery
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
