What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Skills Development Services?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
· To maintain confidentiality in all appropriate functions.
· To record hours worked daily on employee time sheets and sign in/out sheets.
· To support Service Recipients in proper healthcare, hygiene, and grooming practices.
· To assist individuals by supporting them through difficult situations (i.e. listening to problems, helping in confrontations, etc.)
· To provide for transportation needs.
· To administer medications as healthcare plan prescribes and as taught by medication administration class.
· To provide support in the areas of homemaking, employment, money management, and social activities.
· To be creative and to follow through with activities or materials that will assist Service Recipients.
· To treat each person supported with the respect, consideration, and full recognition of his/her dignity and individuality, including privacy and care of his/her personal needs.
· To participate in Planning Meetings, as invited, and assist in support planning.
· To know outcomes, action steps and tracking sheets of plans for all individuals on the team.
· To provide written documentation of action steps and tracking sheets of individual plans to designated staffs.
· To provide supports and supervision as ISP and staffing plans specify coordination with other team members.
· To involve Service Recipient in various opportunities and activities allowing individual freedom of choice.
· To function as a team player with all staffs supporting individuals supported.
· To attend and participate in assigned meetings and trainings.
· To maintain in agency vehicles (i.e. no cell phone use while driving)
· To report all maintenance needs on a work order to the Team Leader.
· To work in other areas as needed (substitute).
· To assist other team members with decision making as needed.
· To assist with job coaching as needed.
· To be responsible to the team for total supports and services for assigned Service Recipients.
· To perform other duties as assigned.
· To support individuals receiving services through the ECF/CHOICES program.
QUALIFICATIONS

· Education equivalent to high school diploma preferred.
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Good driving record; current Class D license with F endorsement
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.37 - $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 56 per week
