We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, tracking, and controlling costs within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to management.
Location: Oxnard, CA
Pay Range: $75k - $80k
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Duties
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Track and analyze production costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Prepare detailed cost reports to assist in pricing, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs.
- Work closely with the production and operations teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and proper reporting.
- Review and analyze costs associated with product manufacturing or service delivery to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain inventory cost records and reconcile inventory transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare reports on cost projections, profitability, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Provide recommendations to management for cost reduction or process improvements.
- Support audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as a cost accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
