Job Description

We have an immediate need for a full time Appointment scheduler for our busy Medical office in Columbia. The Ideal candidate will be friendly, detail-oriented, and have previous medical front desk and or billing experience. Typical office hours are Monday through Friday 8-5pm

Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 2 years of previous medical experience or other related office experience scheduling appointments or billing.

High School diploma or GED equivalent

Performance Requirements:

Must demonstrate friendliness and professionalism to all patients and visitors. Recognize being the first impression of Skin & Allergy Center.

Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls. Routes calls appropriately, offering voice mail, paging, or redirecting of calls as needed.

Must be knowledgeable in office policies related to patient flow and visitors.

Must be knowledgeable in insurance standards with respect to payment of claims. Must be able to accurately post patient payments and/or charges.

Must be able to accurately update patient information as it relates to current or previous visits.

Must be able to balance processed payments on a daily basis as needed.

Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with patients and co-workers.

Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact while multi-tasking, organizing and scheduling patients.

Demonstrates knowledge of EMR systems.

Must be able to manage time efficiently.

Responsible for keeping the reception and patient waiting areas and office files clean and organized.

Monitors office supplies and inventory needs, places orders and oversees office equipment.

Must be aware of, and must participate in, all compliance programs which include, but are not limited to OSHA, HIPAA, Medicare, chart compliance programs, and other programs at Spring Hill Dermatology. Follows all Clinic policies on safety and security. Maintains restricted areas safe by safeguarding keyless entry codes and computer system passwords in strict confidentiality.

Must be able to interact well with patients and co-workers.

Participates in continued education opportunities made available. These are typically provided at no cost or limited expense to the employee.

Support other staff members in their jobs.

Performs other duties under the direction of Dr. Chris Robb, Dr. Ben Hayes or a supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Receptionist involving sitting approximately 90% of the day with occasional standing, walking, reaching and lifting. Periodic stress occurs from handling many calls and dealing with patient requests.

Must have sufficient freedom of total body movement in order to stand up and sit down at work station; be able to squat and/or stoop in order to lift a 25 pound box of paper or a 25 pound stack of charts. Must possess the physical traits to remain sedentary for parts of the day performing clerical duties. Must be able to reach for files/charts above shoulder height.

Must have sufficient seeing ability to be able to type on a computer. Must have sufficient hearing ability to be able to answer telephone calls and be able to respond to any audio alarms that go off unannounced within the clinic.

Must have coordination of sight and body movements for various applications of procedures and have the ability to handle the tools and equipment of the position

Must have sufficient arm and hand movement with dexterity of finger and wrist to type at a speed of 40 words per minute with 98 percent accuracy with a computer.
