Tire Technician Job Description
We are Spartanburg's local tire shop with a strong family history. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Heavy Tire Changer to join our truck tire repair team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing tire changes, repairs, and maintenance on large truck tires in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to work efficiently while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Remove and replace tires on commercial trucks, trailers, and other heavy vehicles.Inspect tires for wear, damage, and defects, and provide recommendations for repair or replacement.
Operate tire-changing machines, including those designed for large truck tires, in a safe and effective manner.Balance and align tires to manufacturer specifications.
Assist in tire repairs such as patching, vulcanizing, and sealing to extend tire life.Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and providing advice on tire care and maintenance.
Adhere to safety protocols and OSHA regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.Keep accurate records of tire work performed, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure timely and efficient service.Requirements:Proven experience in heavy tire changing and truck tire repair.
Knowledge of heavy-duty tire specifications, tools, and equipment.
Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy tires and equipment.Ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs on truck tires.
Familiarity with tire balancing and alignment procedures.Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Strong commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards.
A valid driver’s license will be required.
Previous experience working with large commercial vehicles and tires.
Knowledge of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
Work Environment:The position requires working in a shop setting with exposure to outdoor conditions.
Shifts may vary depending on customer demand but 90% will be M-F 8-5.
