GENERAL PURPOSE:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Associate to support our Township Finance Director. This is a part-time, contract position with approximately 18-20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will, under general supervision, process accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll; maintain technical and accounting records for the Township, and assist with daily cash management. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and the ability to work with accounting software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Processing payroll in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Township rules, regulations and procedures.
- Preparing and reconciling daily cash deposits and recording journal entries for electronic payments and transfers.
- Processing accounts receivables and accounts payables.
- Compiling and reviewing financial information.
- Preparing financial forms, documents, and reports.
- Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial statements.
- Complying with federal, state, and local legal regulations and requirements.
- Maintaining records and filing systems.
- Performing other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a closely related field; two years of accounting experience; one year of payroll accounting experience. Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skill in operating a computer utilizing a variety of software applications including Microsoft Office and Quickbooks.
- Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, and demands
- Skill in effective communication both verbal and written
- Skill in establishing effective working relations with other Township staff
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of all information gathered
- Ability to perform complex work quickly and accurately.
- Municipal experience a plus.
- Knowledge of application state and Federal statutes, rules, codes and regulations
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 per hour
