If you enjoy teaching art and sharing your passion with young artists, Art Sparks camp is the place for you! The Skokie Park District is seeking creative and outgoing Program Leaders (counselors) for summer 2025.
Description:
Be reliable and be a leader. Bring a positive attitude and a willingness to communicate with parents, campers, and staff with professionalism. Internalize art lesson plans, organize materials, set up activities, present project steps, and provide hands-on guidance to campers--encouraging artistic development and exploration. Collaborate with fellow Program Leaders to ensure the safety and success of campers. Plan and lead camp games and activities. Supervise pool time, both in the water and on deck, to promote safety. Foster kindness and respect among campers, implementing age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Program Leaders are responsible for leaving the camp site neat and orderly at the end of the camp day. Duties include maintaining accurate records and reports. Program Leaders attend meetings and training as requested, and perform other duties as assigned.
Hours:
Camp begins Monday, June 9, 2025, and runs through Friday, August 8, 2025. Hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, but they may vary depending on camp needs. Must be available to attend camp training the week of May 31, 2025, exact dates and times to be determined.
Qualifications
Must be an enthusiastic adult, at least 16 years of age, who enjoys working with children. Experience leading groups of children in art-related activities preferred. Prior summer camp employment experience is a plus, but not necessary. Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Priority will be given to applicants with teaching certifications and higher-level education in the visual arts.
