Information Specialist
Under the supervision of the Information Services Supervisor, Information Specialists staff the second floor information Help Desk, provide informational and technical assistance to community members with excellent customer service, oversee the second floor computer commons and study rooms, and plan and present classes while contributing to the development of Information Services.
Schedule: 12.5 hours per week (average, see schedule)
- The schedule is Thursdays 5pm-9pm, Fridays 4:45pm-9pm, and every other Saturday 9am-6pm
Selected Responsibilities:
- Staffs the 2nd floor information desk
- Provides information services to patrons in person, by telephone, and through email
- Helps patrons to identify, locate, and retrieve materials appropriate to their interests or information needs
- Assists and instructs patrons in the use of library resources, including the catalog, web resources, software, scanners, and computers
- Navigates and troubleshoots browsers, web pages, email, operating systems, related software, printers, copiers, mobile devices, and AV equipment
- Provides instruction in the use of resources and technology both 1:1 and in groups, and helps create and teach a variety of digital literacy classes
Selected Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience providing direct customer service
- Teaching and/or coaching experience with teens and adults
- Proficiency and comfort with a variety of technology
