Our legal practice is seeking to hire a full-time Paralegal or Paraprofessional to join our firm. We practice primarily in family law, but also handle real estate, criminal, and estate planning.
To be successful in this role, you must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, as well as Adobe. You will also need to prioritize tasks, manage cases, draft court documents be a self-starter, and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings and other legal documents, with a focus on complex paralegal matters such as case management and substantive legal drafting.
- Manage incoming clients by determining if they fit within the firm's intake criteria, schedule their consultation and take payment, draft engagement letters, open any new client files, and begin what is necessary in the case.
- Organizing and maintaining documents in electronic filing system.
- Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals re: case details.
- Filing pleadings with court clerk.
- Conduct legal research.
- Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
- Scheduling appointments, mediations, and hearings.
- Traveling to get lunch, shred paper, drop off items to attorney or pick up office supplies. Answer phones and direct calls when legal assistant is out.
- Maintain the office's social media presence, including creating engaging content, monitoring responses, and updating the firm's website as needed.
- Entering billing information and assisting with bookkeeping functions.
- Assisting with other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal with proven expertise in drafting documents, managing calendars, scheduling, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Experience in family law is strongly preferred, but candidates with transferable skills from other areas of law will also be considered.
- Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel, to efficiently manage correspondence, create documents, and maintain schedules.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to draft professional correspondence and pleadings with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time-sensitive documents, and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to multi-task effectively, staying proactive and adaptable while ensuring compliance with all critical deadlines and case requirements.

Pay: $27.00 - $34.00 per hour
