Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, skilled, and hardworking Foundry Grinder to join our team. The Foundry Grinder is responsible for removing excess material, burrs, and rough edges from cast metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and grinding equipment. This role is essential to ensuring high-quality finished products that meet customer specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate hand grinders, sanders, and other finishing tools to smooth and refine cast metal parts.
- Inspect castings for defects, excess metal, or imperfections and grind them accordingly.
- Use power tools such as air grinders, belt grinders, and cut-off wheels to remove excess material.
- Follow safety protocols and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including face shields, gloves, and respirators.
- Handle and position large or heavy castings using hoists, cranes, or manual techniques.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, or specifications to determine grinding requirements.
- Perform quality checks to ensure finished products meet company and customer standards.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment.
- Other production tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in a foundry, metalworking, or industrial grinding role preferred.
- Familiarity with power tools, grinding wheels, and finishing equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in a noisy, dusty, and hot environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Tolerance to heat, cold, noise, and dust exposure with proper PPE.
