Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced High School Science Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Earth Science, Ecobiology, Plant Biology, and Chemistry, and a commitment to inspiring students through inquiry-based learning and exploration. In addition to teaching core science courses, the educator will have the opportunity to design and teach an elective class of their choice, allowing for creativity and personalization in the curriculum.
Responsibilities:
Teach Core Science Courses:
1. Develop and deliver engaging lessons in Earth Science, Ecobiology, Plant Biology, and Chemistry, incorporating hands-on experiments, field trips, and multimedia resources.
2. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry among students.
Design and Implement Elective Course:
1. Design a unique elective course aligned with your interests, expertise, and student needs, fostering student engagement and exploration in a specialized area of science.
2. Provide opportunities for students to delve deeper into topics of interest, conduct independent research, and collaborate on projects.
Differentiate Instruction:
1. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and interests of students, including those with varying academic abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles.
2. Provide scaffolding and support for students who require additional assistance to succeed in science courses.
Assessment and Feedback:
1. Develop formative and summative assessments to evaluate student understanding of scientific concepts, skills, and processes.
2. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their growth and mastery of science content and skills.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
1. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and support a cohesive school-wide science program.
2. Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness, stay current with scientific research and pedagogical trends, and pursue personal growth as an educator.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or licensure appropriate for high school science instruction.
- Experience teaching Earth Science, Ecobiology, Plant Biology, and Chemistry at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts, principles, and methodologies related to the core science disciplines.
- Passion for experiential and inquiry-based learning, with the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that values diversity, equity, and respect for all students.
