The Internal Communications Coordinator is responsible for driving clear, timely, and engaging internal communications for a 24/7 shift-based workforce. Collaborating with HR, communications, Marketing, and operations, this position will manage and execute the internal communications strategy, ensuring consistent, impactful messaging across multiple channels that reflect the organization's values and goals. This position will develop and execute frontline internal communications strategies, creating written content and collaborating with the design team to ensure branded content is created for internal digital signage and printed materials. This job's purpose is to keep employees informed, aligned with company objectives, and engaged with initiatives.
- Oversees internal communications for large-scale announcements, change management, and policy updates.
- Collaborates with HR and department leaders to share critical information on policies, safety guidelines, and company news.
- Develops and distributes clear, engaging content like digital signage, printed materials and pre-shift talking points using frontline communication channels suited for mobile and deskless employees.
- Manages written content for mobile-first communication platforms to ensure real-time access to essential information for shift-based workers.
- Coordinates with the HR to implement communication plans for employee engagement and community impact initiatives and events to boost morale and build community across shifts.
- Acts as an internal news reporter, mining for human interest, cultural, and business stories for internal and external channels such as social media or news media outlets.
- Supports emergency communication protocols, ensuring timely updates and safety procedures for the mobile workforce.
- Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and company guidelines, including data protection and labor laws.
- Tracks engagement metrics and gathers team member feedback to assess the effectiveness of communication tools, content and strategies.
- Prepares reports with insights and recommendations for improving internal communication efforts.
- 2-3 years of experience in internal communications, preferably with experience working with diverse teams with frontline employees working across multiple shifts.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with internal communication tools/apps (e.g., SharePoint) and shift-based, deskless employee communication strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience in communicating employee engagement, employer brand or workplace culture programs preferred.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees preferred.
