Job Title: Director of Finance & Operations - Private Member Club
Location: New York City
Reports To: President & CEO Start Date: May 2025
Salary Range: $175k to $195K
Position Overview
The Director of Finance will play a critical role in building the financial backbone of the Club. This is a rare opportunity to be part of the club from its inception—responsible for establishing all financial systems, controls, and procedures. The successful candidate will lead the setup of the finance department and oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and audit functions.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Phase (First 6 Months)
· Lead the selection, customization, and implementation of all financial systems, including accounting software, POS integration, payroll, inventory, and reporting tools.
· Develop and implement financial policies, SOPs, and internal controls tailored to a private member club model.
· Work closely with ownership and leadership to establish pre-opening and operational budgets.
· Recruit and train finance team members as needed for opening and ongoing operations.
· Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure systems integration (e.g., with F&B, membership, events, spa/wellness, and retail departments).
· Establish vendor management protocols and ensure proper procurement procedures.
Operational Responsibilities
· Manage day-to-day financial operations post-opening, including budgeting, cash flow, financial reporting, payroll, tax filings, and bank relationships.
· Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders and ownership.
· Monitor financial performance and advise on strategies to optimize revenue, control costs, and ensure profitability.
· Ensure regulatory compliance and lead audits (internal and external).
· Support membership services and operations with financial insights and reporting as needed.
· Continuously refine systems and processes for efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
· Minimum 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in hospitality, private clubs, or luxury lifestyle environments.
· Proven experience in setting up financial systems and processes from the ground up.
· Strong understanding of hospitality finance, club operations, and member-based revenue models.
· Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
· Proficient in financial systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar), POS integration, and Microsoft Excel.
