As a member of the Legal team, you will become a trusted expert and business partner on issues that impact virtually every part of the company. How You'll Make An Impact
- Partner with key stakeholders across the business to refine and implement Skydio’s compliance operations, policies and procedures while promoting a culture of compliance.
- Preparation and filing of export authorizations, licensing, and license exceptions documents.
- Track license applications and determinations in the (BIS) SNAP-R system.
- File Electronic Export Information (EEI) in the (ACE/AES) system.
- Request, prepare and manage carnets related to permanent or temporary exports.
- Manage and document license exceptions including TMP, STA, RPL, GOV and NLR
- Develop trade compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Fact Sheets (FAQ) and ongoing communications that help to fuel Skydio’s culture of compliance.
- Ensure Skydio’s exports are compliant with the regulations of the EAR (Export Administration Regulations) or the ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), including providing compliance guidance to both internal and external customers.
- Support investigations of potential trade violations or allegations and prepare and track voluntary self-disclosures (VSD) for controlled items.
- Develop and deploy compliance training for targeted teams within Skydio.
- Speak up and contribute to continuous process improvement for all compliance verticals including anti-corruption, ethics, investigations, sanctions management and cross functional compliance controls.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years in regulatory compliance, including anti-corruption, ethics, investigations, sanctions, FAR/DFAR regulations, and global trade/export procedures.
- Strong familiarity with ITAR, EAR, OFAC, sanctions, customs regulations, and related compliance systems.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Proficient with BIS/SNAP-R, ACE/AES, DDTC/DECCS platforms, and experienced in HTS classification, Schedule B codes, product/license valuation, country of origin, hazardous goods disclosure, and special trade programs.
- Familiar with freight forwarder/shipper logistics and operations.
- Investigations and Training:
- Skilled in conducting forensic/data investigations and preparing/delivering training via systems, in-person, or virtually.
- Capable of serving as a DDTC/ITAR Empowered Official.
- Systems Builder:
- Adept at creating lasting systems and processes to meet compliance goals.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with a talent for simplifying and communicating complex information.
- Proactive and strategic, addressing issues before they arise and offering actionable solutions.
