JOB SUMMARY:
SkyeTec Engineering Services is currently looking for a driven, confident and hardworking team member and Inspector to fill the position of Building Code Inspector PPI. The primary function of this role is to conduct inspections of building construction projects to confirm compliance with Building Codes and other regulatory requirements. The work involves reviewing building plans and other documents; the interpretation and application of codes and regulations; and performing visual inspections required by law for each phase of construction to determine compliance with applicable codes. Additionally, the Inspector is responsible for documenting observed conditions and completing inspection reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform daily field inspections for compliance with state and local building codes and all other related regulations as required.
- Maintain and log accurate project records, inspections results, test results, and any other documentation pertaining to inspections.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with Construction Managers, tradesman, municipal Building Department personnel.
- Accurately, effectively, and timely communicate with required stakeholder’s findings of inspections.
- Provide recommendations regarding interpretations of construction best practices, codes, standards and local ordinances.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction best practices.
- The ability to read blueprints.
- Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Valid FL Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Good working knowledge of computers / technology including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and willingness to travel. (Locally)
- The ability to work independently and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- The ability to produce accurate results while meeting deadlines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidate should have a minimum of 1 of the following licenses / certifications:
- FL Professional Engineer License (PE) in specific discipline required; or
- FL Registered Architect License (RA); or
- FL Standard Inspector License (BN) in specific discipline required; or
- FL Plans Examiner License (PX) in specific discipline required; or
- FL General Contractor License (GC); or
- ICC Commercial Plans Examiner and/ or Inspection certification in specific discipline.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience related to field code compliance inspections.
- OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Machines common to usual office operation including telephone, copiers, computers and database computer software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
STANDARD WORK HOURS
Normal work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. From time to time, specific work assignments may require 40 plus hours, including evenings and weekends, as requested by your supervisor or an executive.
Salary : $30 - $42
