Simulation Software Developer

SkyGrid, a Boeing, Avathon Company, exists to open the sky for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, SkyGrid builds ground based high-assurance third-party services to enable the safe operations and airspace integration of highly automated and autonomous aircraft. SkyGrid also acts as a key operational nexus for advanced air mobility, integrating and managing data, infrastructure, access, and traffic to support seamless and efficient air traffic services.

SkyGrid is looking for a Simulation Software Developer with excellent programming skills to boost the development of the in-house simulation system. In this role you will be responsible for the design and development of our simulation infrastructure. You will create the building blocks, simulation scenarios and support various teams during product demos using simulated data. 

• Possess the ability to develop simulation features for multiple needs 
• Independently be able to integrate a third-party tool within the simulation system  
• Fully support product demos involving simulation environments  
• Can effectively estimate the effort required for simulation tasks 
• Able to plan and negotiate with other department tasks of the simulation department  
• Has full control of the simulation infrastructure 

• Design simulation features for internal and external customer needs 
• Develop and test the simulation features (software development) 
• Integrate third party tools with the simulation system 
• Develop simple mathematical models to enrich the simulation library 
• Manage the simulation system configuration control  
• Perform trade studies on technologies or products to support simulation system development.  
• Support the preparation and execution of product demos involving the simulation system 
• Propose infrastructural changes to the simulation system to support its growth 

• Programming Languages: Excellent design and programming skills: Python, C.  
• Cloud Technologies: Excellent cloud development skills (AWS, Kubernetes, Dockers)  
• CI/CD Integration: Experience with continuous integration systems like GitLab to integrate testing within the development pipeline.  
• Version Control: Comfortable using Git for version control and collaborative development.  
• Problem Analysis: Ability to investigate issues to their root cause and contribute to their resolution.  
• Possess the desire to keep current with the constantly changing technology industry 

• 5 years in aerospace or automotive industry 
• Other industry where a simulation system is used extensively are eligible  
• Familiarity with simulation technologies and infrastructures  
• Experience in non-critical software development 
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience
