What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Soccer Coach position at Skyhawks Sports Academy (Bakersfield)?
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement basketball training programs for students of various skill levels
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense
- Plan and conduct practice sessions to improve individual and team performance
- Provide guidance and support to student-athletes during games and competitions
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement
- Create a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to coordinate team activities and events
Experience:
- Previous experience coaching basketball or working with students in a sports setting
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate basketball skills to students
- Experience in behavior management and creating a positive learning environment
- Knowledge of physical education principles and practices
- Experience in other sports coaching or martial arts (e.g., judo) is a plus
- Lifeguard certification is a plus
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field preferred
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire student athletes
- Organizational skills to plan practices, games, and team activities effectively
- Ability to adapt coaching techniques to meet the needs of individual players
- Knowledge of injury prevention techniques and basic first aid
