A Steel Material Takeoff Specialist is responsible for accurately quantifying the materials needed for steel construction projects. This role involves analyzing architectural drawings, specifications, and project plans to ensure precise material estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications.
- Perform detailed material quantity takeoffs for steel components.
- Use software tools, including Tekla Structures, to compile and analyze material estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure accurate estimates.
- Maintain records of material quantities and costs.
- Assist in preparing bids and proposals based on material takeoffs.
Required Qualifications:
- Punctual and with reliable transportation
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Computer skills
Helpful Qualifications:
- Experience in material takeoffs or related roles.
- Proficiency in using Tekla Structures and other estimating software
- Knowledge of steel construction processes and materials.
Physical Working Conditions:
- Environment: The role involves working in an office setting. You may need to navigate uneven surfaces such as dirt, concrete, and rocks.
- Physical Activity: The job requires a mix of sitting and standing and navigating one flight of stairs. You may also need to reach above your head and below your waist.
- Lifting: You should be able to lift weights ranging from 5 to 15 pounds
Hours and Schedule
- Average 40 hours per week (8am-4:30, M-F).
