\n- This role may operate out of our San Jose, CA, San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA, Bellevue, WA, or Chicago, IL office.
- Management
- Lead and mentor a growing team of 3 professionals and ensure a high level of competency is developed and maintained by providing appropriate training and promoting attendance at relevant educational programs.
- Oversee the accounting, tax, treasury, and finance operations especially control systems, transactions, and policies and procedures.
- Optimize organization structure as the company continues its growth through acquisitions.
- Prepare and present results for executive leadership and other stakeholders as needed.
- Create a financial planning function that provides best in class financial reporting and dashboards to monitor company performance with a focus on the newly established entities.
- Transactions and Reporting
- Lead and improve consolidated monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Actively lead effort to reduce month, quarter, and year end close timing.
- Ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivables, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, payroll, balance sheet reconciliations and tax transactions are administered and organized timely and properly.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the operating plan and financial budget covering current and projected revenue, direct and overhead expenses, profits, and return on investment together with supporting analysis.
- Analyze, consolidate and direct all job cost accounting practices and ensure project managers are trained and understand job cost accounting.
- Maintain and issue monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements for the executive leadership team and board of directors.
- Minimize year-end adjustments proposed by third party auditors through accurate and GAAP compliant interim financial reporting.
- Process and Innovation
- Implement continuous improvement of existing accounting systems including Sage 300 construction RE, ADP and Crystal Reports.
- Review, recommend and lead implementation of new systems and process changes that bring innovation and efficiency to the organization.
- Create a replicable process for due diligence, evaluation and integration of acquisitions.
- Compliance
- Ensure the company is in compliance with all government programs, including EEO, OSHA, and EPA in coordination with the CFO and various departments.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Oversee the annual CPA review
- Provide data to support stock valuation process. administration of ESOP matters, qualified plan audits, insurance renewals, and other processes, as needed.
- Oversee all tax filing processes
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Record of success leading the financial close in a Corporate Controller role for 3 years.
- 8 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, CPA preferred, Big 4 experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or MBA, or equivalent business experience.
- Construction industry experience required.
- Mentor and leader to finance team members.
- Systems savvy, prior experience implementing and integrating technology and systems to improve efficiencies. Sage 300 construction RE/Timberline experience is a plus.
- Experience/familiarity with ESOP organizations would be beneficial.
- Expert knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, G/L, audits and financial statements.

$200,000 - $295,000 a year
The actual salary will be carefully considered based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for health, disability, life, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
