Systems Administrator

Position Summary:

The System Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the administration, maintenance, and security of the organization's computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure at our laboratory location in San Diego. 

This role will be the first point of contact for the SkylineDx USA Inc. employees for a wide range of IT related questions.  The System Administrator ensures that all the components of the computing system are running efficiently. Systems Administrators troubleshoot any issues with computer software and hardware. They also maintain internet connectivity, back up data and ensure that the system is not under any threat. They perform customer service functions by helping clients and employees and by resolving issues affecting the optimal performance of their computer and networking terminals. System Administrators work in conjunction with the IT team in the Netherlands to ensure adherence to companywide protocols.   

Requirements / Qualifications / Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field with 2 years minimum experience supporting microcomputer software, hardware, associated peripherals, networks and computer user support.
• Practical experience with Microsoft operating systems as administrator.
• Familiar with all Microsoft office applications.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, network cabling and remote access methodologies.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with general to no supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
• Operational experience with Salesforce is desired.
• Highly motivated and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in all aspects.
• Candidate must live in the assigned geographic territory.
• Proven experience in a System Administrator, Network Administrator or Desktop Support role
• Knowledge of operating systems and networking platforms
• Understanding of system security and data recovery
• Knowledge of networking and databases
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Resourcefulness and ability to work under pressure
• Life science experience is a must.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Maintains all systems to meet or exceed the business and security requirements in accordance with applicable directives and guidelines.
• Administers and maintains systems and services, ensuring optimum performance and availability. 
• Provides IT security training and training of available technical systems as applicable. 
• Provides technical support and user assistance for endpoint systems, telecommunications, mobile devices, networking and conference support.
• Assists in the implementation of IT technology initiatives, among others for CRM, LIMS, QMS. Partners with the engineering staff, in US and NL, to ensure the successful deployment and transition of operational support.
• Communicates all computer network, system and service problems and outages immediately to the Director IT / Senior System and Cloud Administrator.
• Enforce compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as HIPAA and GDPR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This job entails regularly performing tasks while working at a computer, desk, laboratory bench or automated machine. Work may involve occasional climbing or balance.  Work entails occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
