What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher SY25-26- Elementary position at Skyline Education Inc.?
Thank you for your interest in Skyline Education! South Phoenix Campus is looking for a certified special education teacher to work with our kindergarten through 4th grade population. This is a resource and itinerant position with a caseload of approximately of 25 students.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule, plan, and facilitate all IEP meetings for caseload.
- Schedule and attend all MET meetings for caseload; collaborate with the team and draft data for reports.
- Plan and deliver specially designed instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology for the students assigned.
- Conduct assessments for progress monitoring that are research based and appropriate for the students assigned.
- Collaborate and clearly communicate with parents/guardians, related service providers and other educators to assist in the students’ learning.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and assist with implementing modifications in a student’s education plan as required.
- Consult with other school staff as necessary to complete the functions of the position.
- Utilize preventive discipline methodology with assigned students.
- Model positive character virtues and habits. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal, Director, & School Leaders
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to perform independently and in groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask when necessary.
- Knowledge of theory and practice of student learning styles.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and statutes.
- Ability to remain pleasant and calm under sometimes-stressful circumstances.
- Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with other staff, students and parents in a multicultural environment.
- Computer skills including word processing, database, spreadsheet and graphics.
Required License or Certification
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teacher Certification
