Qualifications:
- High school graduate, some college preferred
- Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification or Licensed Activities Professional a plus
- Two to five years of experience in a patient activities program in a health care setting
- Two or more years working experience as a Supervisor
- Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English
Job Summary:
Plan, provide and implement group and individual activities to increase and maintain the resident’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. The program developed shall be ongoing and shall be designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interest and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify the residents activity treatment services, leisure education services and opportunities for activity participation
- Interview and assess all residents prior to the initial care plan conference and include assessment information in the medical records.
- Develop and update an assessment and care plan as needed
- Integrate activity services as part of the total resident care plan
- Maintaining departmental documentation that reflects activity services provided and resident progress toward goals
- Design and activity program based on needs, interests, and capabilities of each resident
- Develop a monthly activity calendar that reflects the assessed needs/interests of the residents
- Develop an individual activity program schedule that reflects the assessed needs/interest of residents unable to attend facility group programs.
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the resident activity program and, as necessary, modify the programs to meet needs/interest.
- Communicate facility programs to residents, staff, family, and volunteers.
- Orient and supervise departmental personnel
- Manage activity volunteers and coordinate their recruitment, orientation, training, and recognition
- Chaperone scheduled activities away from the facility grounds
- Help maintain a pleasant and cheerful nursing home environment
- Participate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide special activities such as dress up days and special observances.
- Attend mandatory in-services
- Attend activity department in-services or workshops
- Provide orientation and continuing in-service education to all staff regarding activity services and the functions of the activity department
- Work with the administrator on developing and managing a department budget.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
