Key Responsibilities
- Tree and Plant Health Evaluation:
- Perform detailed inspections to assess the health, structure, and overall condition of trees and shrubs.
- Diagnosis and Treatment:
- Identify pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress factors. Develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Application of Treatments:
- Safely apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other plant health care products using various methods such as spray rigs, soil injections, and trunk injections.
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM):
- Utilize IPM strategies to manage pest populations with minimal environmental impact.
- Soil and Root Care:
- Conduct soil analysis, recommend amendments, and perform treatments to improve soil health and root development.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, applications, and observations for ongoing plant health monitoring.
- Client Communication:
- Provide professional advice and education to clients about proper tree and plant care practices.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain application equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with arborists, crew members, and management to support comprehensive tree care services.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
- Valid driver’s D class license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).
- Pesticide Applicator’s License or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Worker certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Prior experience in plant health care, tree care, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of tree biology, plant pathology, entomology, tree/ shrub identification and soil science.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to identify common tree and shrub pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Proficiency in the safe handling and application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other plant health products.
- Experience with equipment such as spray rigs, soil injectors, and diagnostic tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physically fit to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, kneel, and perform tasks that require stamina and dexterity.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
