We are seeking a highly skilled Orbital Dynamics Scientist to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine scientific research with hands-on tool development, shaping the future of satellite tracking and orbital safety.
Role Overview
As our Orbital Dynamics Scientist, you will play a crucial role in developing, assessing, and improving satellite orbit models and tools. Working closely with our engineering and development teams, you will design methods to predict and visualize orbital trajectories, assess collision risks, and support evasive maneuver planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop algorithms and tools to model and predict satellite orbits, with a focus on collision avoidance, evasive maneuver strategies, and orbit quality assessment.
• Analyze and evaluate the orbital parameters of satellites within large constellations to ensure precision and stability.
• Design and implement solutions to assess the quality and reliability of orbital data.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to build interactive visualization tools for satellite tracking and orbital insights.
• Contribute to the design and development of models for identifying and responding to close approach scenarios.
• Support internal and external stakeholders by providing technical insights and data interpretation.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, or satellite tracking.
• Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
• Experience working with satellite catalogs such as CelesTrak, Space-Track, or similar data sources.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and libraries is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills to track assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of satellite constellations, including assessment of orbital precision and quality.
• Experience in developing real-time alert systems for satellite conjunctions and evasive maneuver modeling.
• Strong communication skills to present scientific results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with web-based visualization frameworks and APIs is an advantage.
